DAM Daubists

This is a group of students who just completed a six week class at the Denver Art Museum taught by Chuck Ceraso. The class was an exercise in the process of going beyond fear and judgement.

They did a series of painting exercises designed to free one from fear and judgment and go into complete abandon in the creative process. Most of the students had little or no previous experience in painting and yet they were able to access their creativity and bring out these amazing paintings. Most were completed in less than fifteen minutes.

We're calling this the Daubist movement because some of the exercises required painting only with a daub stroke. These paintings consistently came out the strongest.

The premise of the group is that everyone has the ability to access their creative genius but most never get in touch with that because of cultural conditioning and the habits of fear and self judgement.

The work posted here confirms the validity of this premise. To me these paintings have a strength of power, form and color that goes way beyond the expected.
